What this worksheet covers

This is a fifteen-question practice worksheet on plants and their parts for Class 2, written to the pattern of the SOF National Science Olympiad (NSO). It carries 18 marks and is designed to be attempted in 35 minutes, split across three sections — Kinds of Plants, Plants Are Useful and Achievers Section. Every question is multiple choice with exactly one correct option, and every one comes with a fully worked solution rather than just an answer key — so a child who gets one wrong can see where the reasoning went astray instead of only learning that it did.

Skills your child practises

  • Working accurately against a time limit, as the real paper demands

  3. 3. Two identical plants are kept in the same sunny window. Plant X is watered every day and plant Y is not watered at all. After ten days, plant Y has dried up. What does this show?

    • APlants need water to stay alivecorrect
    • BPlants do not need sunlight
    • CPlants need soil only
    • DPlants grow better without water
Solution: The only difference between the two plants was the water, so the water must have caused the difference. This shows that plants need water to stay alive.
