What this worksheet covers
This is a fifteen-question practice worksheet on measurement, perimeter and area for Class 4, written to the pattern of the SOF International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO). It carries 21 marks and is designed to be attempted in 40 minutes, split across three sections β Mathematical Reasoning, Everyday Mathematics and Reasoning and Achievers Section. Every question is multiple choice with exactly one correct option, and every one comes with a fully worked solution rather than just an answer key β so a child who gets one wrong can see where the reasoning went astray instead of only learning that it did.
Skills your child practises
- Applied problem-solving on measurement, perimeter and area at Class 4 level
- Working accurately against a time limit, as the real paper demands
- Mathematical Reasoning questions in the olympiad format
- Everyday Mathematics and Reasoning questions in the olympiad format
- Achievers Section questions in the olympiad format
- Reading worked solutions to find the step that went wrong
How to use it
- 1There are 15 questions in this worksheet. All questions are compulsory.
- 2Each question has four options (A), (B), (C) and (D). Exactly one option is correct.
- 3Questions 1β12 carry 1 mark each. Questions 13β15 (Achievers Section) carry 3 marks each.
- 4There is no negative marking. Use of a calculator is not allowed.
- 5Figures are not drawn to scale.
Sample questions from this worksheet

1. The perimeter of a rectangle of length 14 cm and breadth 9 cm is _______.
- A46 cmcorrect
- B36 cm
- C23 cm
- D126 cm
Solution: Perimeter = 2 × (length + breadth)
= 2 × (14 + 9) = 2 × 23 = 46 cm.2. A rectangular garden is 25 m long and 18 m wide. What is the cost of fencing it at βΉ40 per metre?
- AβΉ1,720
- BβΉ18,000
- CβΉ4,500
- DβΉ3,440correct
Solution: Perimeter = 2 × (25 + 18) = 2 × 43 = 86 m.
Cost = 86 × 40 = βΉ3,440.3. The perimeter of a rectangle is 54 cm and its length is 15 cm. What is its breadth?
- A12 cmcorrect
- B9 cm
- C24 cm
- D39 cm
Solution: Perimeter = 2 × (length + breadth), so length + breadth = 54 ÷ 2 = 27 cm.
Breadth = 27 − 15 = 12 cm.
Check: 2 × (15 + 12) = 54 cm. ✓
