What this worksheet covers
This is a fifteen-question practice worksheet on geometry, patterns and data handling for Class 4, written to the pattern of the SOF International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO). It carries 21 marks and is designed to be attempted in 40 minutes, split across three sections β Mathematical Reasoning, Everyday Mathematics and Reasoning and Achievers Section. Every question is multiple choice with exactly one correct option, and every one comes with a fully worked solution rather than just an answer key β so a child who gets one wrong can see where the reasoning went astray instead of only learning that it did.
Skills your child practises
- Applied problem-solving on geometry, patterns and data handling at Class 4 level
- Working accurately against a time limit, as the real paper demands
- Mathematical Reasoning questions in the olympiad format
- Everyday Mathematics and Reasoning questions in the olympiad format
- Achievers Section questions in the olympiad format
- Reading worked solutions to find the step that went wrong
How to use it
- 1There are 15 questions in this worksheet. All questions are compulsory.
- 2Each question has four options (A), (B), (C) and (D). Exactly one option is correct.
- 3Questions 1β12 carry 1 mark each. Questions 13β15 (Achievers Section) carry 3 marks each.
- 4There is no negative marking. Read every graph and figure carefully.
Sample questions from this worksheet

1. An angle that measures exactly 90° is called a _______ angle.
- ARightcorrect
- BAcute
- CObtuse
- DStraight
Solution: A right angle is exactly 90° β the corner of a book or a square. An acute angle is less than 90° and an obtuse angle is more.2. Which of these capital letters has two lines of symmetry?
- AHcorrect
- BB
- CA
- DP
Solution: H can be folded down the middle vertically and also across the middle horizontally, giving 2 lines of symmetry. A and B have only one each, and P has none.3. Look at the matchstick pattern: 1 triangle needs 3 sticks, 2 triangles in a row need 5 sticks, 3 triangles need 7 sticks. How many sticks are needed for 10 triangles in a row?
- A19
- B21correct
- C23
- D30
Solution: After the first triangle, each extra triangle adds only 2 sticks because one side is shared.
Sticks = 3 + 2 × (number of extra triangles)
For 10 triangles: 3 + 2 × 9 = 3 + 18 = 21 sticks.
