What this worksheet covers

This is an eighteen-question practice worksheet on perimeter, area and data handling for Class 7, written to the pattern of the SOF International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO). It carries 24 marks and is designed to be attempted in 45 minutes, split across three sections — Mathematical Reasoning, Everyday Mathematics and Reasoning and Achievers Section. Every question is multiple choice with exactly one correct option, and every one comes with a fully worked solution rather than just an answer key — so a child who gets one wrong can see where the reasoning went astray instead of only learning that it did.

Skills your child practises

  • Applied problem-solving on perimeter, area and data handling at Class 7 level
  • Working accurately against a time limit, as the real paper demands
  • Mathematical Reasoning questions in the olympiad format
  • Everyday Mathematics and Reasoning questions in the olympiad format
  • Achievers Section questions in the olympiad format
  • Reading worked solutions to find the step that went wrong

How to use it

  1. 1There are 18 questions in this worksheet. All questions are compulsory.
  2. 2Each question has four options (A), (B), (C) and (D). Exactly one option is correct.
  3. 3Questions 1–15 carry 1 mark each. Questions 16–18 (Achievers Section) carry 3 marks each.
  4. 4There is no negative marking. Take π = {22/7} unless stated otherwise.
  5. 5Read every graph carefully. Figures are not drawn to scale.

Sample questions from this worksheet

A preview of what's inside Perimeter Area and Data (Class 7) — the PDF has the full set, and every question comes with a worked solution like these.

  1. 1. The area of a triangle with base 14 cm and height 9 cm is _______.

    • A63 cm²correct
    • B126 cm²
    • C23 cm²
    • D252 cm²
    Solution: Area of a triangle = {1/2} × base × height
    = {1/2} × 14 × 9 = 63 cm².
  2. 2. The circumference of a circular park is 88 m. What is its radius?

    • A7 m
    • B28 m
    • C21 m
    • D14 mcorrect
    Solution: Circumference = 2πr, so 2 × {22/7} × r = 88.
    {44/7} × r = 88
    r = 88 × {7/44} = 14 m.
  3. 3. Consider the following statements.(i) Doubling the radius of a circle doubles its area.(ii) The probability of an event always lies between 0 and 1.(iii) The mode of a set of data may not be unique.Which of the statements is/are correct?

    • A(i) and (ii) only
    • B(ii) and (iii) onlycorrect
    • C(i) and (iii) only
    • DAll three
Solution: Statement (i) is false — area = πr², so doubling the radius makes the area four times as large. Statement (ii) is true. Statement (iii) is true; a set such as 2, 2, 5, 5, 7 has two modes. Hence (ii) and (iii).
